Last night i decided to play around with screen shots on the HDS 7. Thought i would share some. report was marked a bunch of fish, but only picked up 3 missed some other ones. going back friday to hit up the last few pix with live bait…

Looks like a good spot for some cut bait fishing in the last few shots. Cool seeing the structure scan vs the regular FF shots when the fish are on the bottom. I would have never figured there where that many fish on the bottom just looking at the regular screen. I’ve passed by many times when my screen looked like that. I see you only show the coordinates on the spot with the least fish. Guess I’ll just have to follow you friday.

Your more than welcome to tom…lol… i would have never ever thought to look there for fish. I was trolling right along in 90-100’ of water and before i knew i ran my downriggers aground in 50-60’ of water. The humps in there were just so random. Marked some really good spots last night. The bottom looked kinda funny and thats what made me turn on the structure scan. Basically the fish were so stacked they looked like the bottom.
Those sidescan pics are cool! You have any of fish just suspended in the deep water?

It would be more obvious if the normal screen was zoomed in on the bottom. Looks like it’s on auto range with no zoom. With 100’ crammed into a few inches of display like that you’re not going to see that kind of detail that close to the bottom.
I need to start saving. Think I see my next toy for the boat.

I didn’t mess with it early on in the evening when i was over big water. I literally turned on the downscan 10min before we left. Was fishing with Seahunt0012. Great guy by the way, but he does like to lose downrigger balls…lol…jk… i knew my cable was gonna break sooner or later.
Needless to say it will be on much more. When i get home today i am gonna mess with changing the size of the screens a little. I am not gonna lie trying to adjust settings on 3 different screens confuses me sometimes and you end up concentrating on 1 and forget about doing stuff with the others. All while keeping a hand on the tiller handle. Hopefully that will change soon. Going to look at a boat today. He cancelled on me yesterday.
i wish i could afford the “10” but i would still be saving. It took almost 2yrs and a fishing stuff yard sale to get the 7. It all worked out good for me, cause when i started saving there was no Gen2. I had enough to get the Gen1 but kept hearing rumors of a Gen2 and waited a little longer hence the yard sale. In all it maybe the best fishing investment i have ever made…Period…
Heck, I wouldn’t give a rat’s ass what the normal screen is showing when your seeing fish like that on the sidescan. lol
I’m going out with live bait tonight. I’ll let you guys know how it goes. Between seeing those fish on the bottom and hearing of the recent catches on cut bait, it’s tempting to fish cut, but I’m not sure I feel like anchoring up and sitting still.
