Scuba Diving in Marathon, FL

Went down to Marathon key and got my open water certification. I brought the gopro out the last dive so check out the video below.

I’m also wondering which dive shops people prefer around Charleston to rent gear and go on dives. The only ones I know of are Charleston Scuba and Lowcountry Scuba. Also has anyone been diving at the Edisto 60 or the Edisto offshore reef? They are the most convenient reefs for me to get to in my own boat.

I’m not going to tell you which shop to use, but I will tell you this…the shop that sits by the “Round Holiday Inn” is not real keen on spearfishermen. If you divulge some tid-bit of info that you might be interested in spearfishing, their attitude towards you will change in a hurry. Low Country Scuba is who I use when I’m in Charleston and Edisto.
We dive mostly out of Edisto so I’ve dove both the reefs you mention. Both are good places to get some bottom time. They typically don’t see as much activity as the Charleston reefs. Don’t count out the 4KI either. Pretty good place to finish off a day of diving. It’s only 45 feet deep so you can finish off your day there if you have some bottom time left and there is usually a nice assortment of bottom fish around.
On a side note, I’m gonna be selling a pair of BCs pretty quick now if you’re interested in starting to aquire your own equipment.
