Just got a call from the bank and someone tried to use my credit card to buy over $600 worth of items in Orangeburg today. Now my card is no good and the banks are closed tomorrow. Will not use a debit card anywhere these days too scared of giving someone direct access to my funds. Guess I will have to get used to getting cash and writing checks until my new card arrives in a couple if weeks.
My cards came the next day???

I have mine through my bank they said 7-10 business days. Will call them on Tuesday when they open and see if I can expedite that process.
It’s not only your card you have to look out for. Saw a guy this morning that owns a Computer Security Frim. He went onto the Obama Care web site and within 5 Minutes he had access to the data of 70,000 people!
Andy,
Unless they have changed, Bank of America will give you a temp card to use as a debit card if you walk in to the bank and see a CS rep.

I have a debit card I am just not a fan of using it because if someone were to get that they have access to real money and could cause you many problems including bounced checks etc. I am not a credit card guy, but got one just for this reason so it would not directly effect my bank account if something were to happen. Yes Easy I don’t think anyone’s identity is safe anymore. Sad to say. I am planning to lock all of my families credit and will only unlock it when I need to.

Didn’t even know you could do that. i think this is a great idea for me, as i dont have the need to buy anything on credit right now and dont plan on it anytime soon.

Jimmy, I have a Credit monitoring company called True Credit. It cost $12 a month and if there is any change in my credit they notify me. They also send you a monthly report and you have access to your credit score and reports. You can also Lock your credit, so no one can make any charges on it until you unlock it. Gives you some piece of mind!
credit karma is free and the same as true credit

I’ve seen that ad on TV! Does Credit Karma let you check your credit score and reports as much as you want? I also have Life Lock. The state of SC lost all the Income Tax Data and gave everyone free Life Lock for a year. When the year was up Life Lock offered to keep the service going for $12.00 a year! That was to good to pass up.
SC has a new provider and it is free to residents. I use Wells and they like there predecessor are very responsive to card changes.
I was just saying this weekend that this will be the next “life insurance” kind of thing. Everyone in 10 years will have identity insurance I bet. Need to figure out how to get on the front end of that market.

My visa was declined friday, called customer service and they said a $1000+ charge was attempted in italy, so they denied it and cancelled the card. Only thing i can think of is that i did a little shopping with it at Target over the holidays.
Just signed up for the free credit monitoring through the state, i like free. http://www.sctax.org/security.htm
I have a Paypal Debit Card, it is not a credit card. It pulls funds from my Paypal which in turn pulls from my checking account. I do not keep a balance in Paypal but can set the limit on the card. I use it the most, it is a MasterCard. It does not have any fees.
Just another option when a Debit Card from your bank goes bad.
