This is my first boat with a self bailing hull. Such questions that I have are as follows: Are there any ideas for scupper maintenance that protect the rubbers? How long do they last until replacement? Any other input is appreciated…

They do make replacement flaps for scuppers and the outer ring is removable for repairs. Are you having any trouble with water on your deck now?

Might wanna try Rabud scuppers…they can be installed on the outside of your transom over your existing scuppers…work great!

Haha… remove the leaves from them before boating and replace the flaps every year or your feet get wet.
In the winter the rubber flaps are going to harden and your feet will get wet anyway.
As you can tell, I am not a fan of scuppers.
Find some rubber bath tub plugs that fit if you plan on fishing the winter, they can save you from cold feet.
Congrats on the new boat! I hope your scuppers work better than the ones I have had.

I replaced the Scuppers on my Key West with replacements much like the ones Limitout suggested. Butler Marine didn’t have replacements that were an exact fit with the rubber flapper. I wasn’t happy with them at all!! Every leaf, stick or piece of trash that made its way through the drain holes wound up getting caught inside the housing and prevented the ball from sealing against incoming water… They would probably work great if you store your boat indoors and are not around trees… I found exact replacements at West Marine for the rubber flappers, which clean out debris much better.
If anyone is interested in the ball type, I have a pair that I will sell for $10, which is less than you would buy one for…
A bad day fishing is much better than a good day at work.
Try disassembling and turning the existing rubber flap around and reinstall. Did this once and seemed to work better for awhile.
Thanks for the replies. I am not having any issues, but this is my first boat with them. I just want to be proactive if there is a thing.
Thanks Ken
I had rubber scuppers in my boat…I left the mounts, cut off the rubber and bought a couple of plugs to put in them. Boat stays dry now. If water gets in the boat, I remove the plugs when I start to move and the water flows right out!! I like my boat scupper free!!
