I went out with my dad and two other friends on Sunday, the weather report was 1-2 all day long, boy did they get that wrong, We limited out in under three hours, almost all of them were this size of miniature loggerhead, I did manage to bring in a Vermilion Snapper inside a 4 lbs sea bass, Im sure glad we are trying to protect these endangered fish.
Its against the law to bring in a vermilion snapper in a 4lb bsb. The bsb has to be at least 5lbs. You are clearly in violation and should be reported.
Amazing that I’ve been browsing this site for almost 3 years and this winter I’ve seen the biggest BSB and the most plentiful yet…I don’t understand this over fishing BS!

Hold on a second Dirty -
If that sea bass had a pink mouth and its tail was turned left then according to article 6 page 21: if the angler puts the Vermillion in a plastic bag of the exact size of 3x5 and agrees to have a proper burial immediately upon returning to shore then he is NOT in violation (article 23 page 2) - HOWEVER if this sea bass had a red mouth and his tail was turned to the right (article 21 page 14) and the Vermillion was regurgitated on the boat deck and if proper authorities were not contacted (Index page 62-68 New Authorities) then YES Iggy was in Violation! HOWEVER, if the angler was Left handed and wearing Flip Flops upon the time of capture and the Vermillion was quickly returned to the water (article 3 page 8) then there were no violations; however IGGY will be on parole for a period not greater than 6 years or until the Vermillion Snapper poulation is not deemed to be overfished(article 2 page 16). Now it gets a little tricky - if the limit of Black Sea Bass was 30% taken at the time of capture then all parties involved are in violation - to be continued after the next SAFMC meeting!!!
YEP - I think I hear Taps being played for the good ole’ Recreational Fishery! RIP

you’re seeing limits of very large blackfish cause thats all we can fish for.
normally we would be keeping red snapper and grouper and throwing back all the blackfish-regardless of size.
by this time next month we’ll be seing limits of triggers, sheepies and spadefish taken off the reefs

If i’m not mistaking I thought we were in same situation last year and I don’t remember seeing such large BSB’s, really so close in…

The key word is "browsing" and not "fishing"... Unfortunately, this gives you the exact qualifications as the SAFMC and PEW to judge our fishery.
