Has anyone had a local company put Sea Dek in your boat?
I exploring options and just curious if anyone has any recommendations.
Thanks a lot

A friend just had some sort of deck material put on his Sportfish, at the large boat yard off the intracoastal, on Johns Island. It does look and feel good. He put it in various places such as steps into salon, on bridge, fighting chair foot board, etc. Not sure what was the material.
I have sea dek on my mitzi skiff. I bought it already pre cut for my boat. It’s pretty easy to install. There is also hydro turf. I have some of that in my aluminum boat. Both seem to be Eva type foam, very comfortable on the feet.
I researched this topic for weeks on end when dealing with the Bentz-Craft…and decided against it.
First question- WHY do you want it?
Second question - Does your boat get covered when not in use?
Third question - Can you afford to re-apply it in 5 years?
The reason I ask why is to validate if it’s even worth it. Is it for looks or for feel? Or for function? It’s a BIG up front cost, and depending on how long it lasts YOU, you will be paying to re-apply it again sooner than you think. They’re all “tough” EVA foam, but eventually the protective properties of the surface of the foam go away, and you’re left with a chalky, easily damaged, easily stained surface that will make you mad.
The debate over how long the adhesive will last is moot, that stuff is serious, and will last longer than the foam does, but that all depends on the sun exposure of course.
My final decision was made based on the EVA foam pad on top of my K2 Summit 20 quart cooler. It has the K2 pad on top, and has been there for 1 year exactly now. The cooler lives in the back of my truck for most of the year, and has seen it all, from being used as a coffee table or a stool in a saltwater duck blind, to thrown from the truck and run over…and the foam is still stuck down perfectly. BUT…it’s also deteriorated enough that it is hideous looking, and you can dig a chunk out of it with your fingernail, and it is staining incredibly easily.
To each his own of course, but for me, dropping $1000+ to do the boat, and having to do it again SOON when I’m not happy with it, was just too much to justify.
But, if you’re set on it, CWR (Chad Walton Racing) is a Hyrdoturf installer in west ashley.

Thanks.
My boat is covered when I’m not using it. I thought it would be good on the feet, and easier to keep clean. Also it kinda dresses the boat up a bit. Its my first boat, 20’ 2005 Pathfinder, i don’t want to put too much $$ into it as at some point will maybe looking at getting something else.
thanks a lot
It’s certainly easy on the feet, and when new, easy to keep clean.
I’m going to use a piece on the poling platform, under my feet at the helm, and under the gunwales for rod storage.

I like marine mat, imo they use a better adhesive.

The adhesive is not what fails in most cases, it’s the foam itself…
