Sea Fox Boats...thoughts?

Does anyone have any good or bad stories to share of 2011-current Sea Fox Boats? First hand accounts please, not he said she said what they said. Interested in a 226CC with Yam 150.

I have a seafox 2014 246. The 226 and 246 have an 18 degree dead rise making them a little rougher ride than a steeper dead rise boat. That said, I have been out in 3-5 foot seas. Not very comfortable but if rough seas come up on you during the day you can get home. If you go for the 226 I would upgrade to a 200 hp. With any mid size boat, pick your days. 2-3 works fine for me. Avoid north east winds. For the river, sounds, and nearshore they work great. I have been out 50 miles with no concerns on the right day.

so I have a 22ft seafox… sazuki 150 4 stroke…

I am unsure of dead rise on mine. but id say I am similar to sulcataman as in some chop it tends to be a bit rough. cant say I have done legit 3ft seas…

I would also agree with him on the statement to go 200 if possible… once your 226 is loaded with fuel, livewell ice and gear your going to feel like a 150 should be a 200 lol…with 3 people I tend to see about mid 30s comfortably (that’s sog nss evo2 simrads) and ive pushed it in the upper 30’s around 38-40 iirc… but that was unloaded… this year I will be doing light slow trolling/kite and with downriggers and the general gear id expect to see a drop in overall cruising home speed lol.

I do pick my days tho generally I only run out past jetty’s on 1-2ft seas at 8-10sec… I also avoid all things north east as it can turn into a washing machine fast…

from what I found pre my purchase (2015 early febuary) yes my boat is preowned iirc a 2010 model or something close… that seafox had a fit/finish issue for a good few years but have gotten better… id say it was early 2000’s where they were very poor fit/finish… things like no backing plates on T-tops,no pre run power to ebox, some had an odd fuel tank and with e10fuels had issues… overall fit/finish where things were not tight seemed to be the bigger complaints… but again last I herd they had come around and gotten those things fixed

I believe they have a 19 degree dead rise. I saw on boat test it had 122gal fuel capacity but the current models show 105. Can’t find 2012 specs from dealer or any site other than Boattest for some reason. I expect a little more bump at 19 vs 21/24 but the bow flair looks good to stay dry. Personally I’m a 2’ or stay home guy. I love the salt but it’s not worth it to me to get hammered. If I do I’ll go with my budy on his 32’ Grady WA. Thanks for tips though.

Thanks for the info. I’d be interested to see the comparison in performance from the Yammy to the zuki… I prefer a 200 as well but the deal I found is a good one. If I can cruise 28-30 on calm seas and WOT 40+ I’d be plenty happy. I am used to my previous boat cruising 20 and WOT 28.

not sure where your located ( I ma in murrells inlet) my boats not put up your welcome to come take a ride lol…

honestly I don’t thin a yam150 vs zuke 150 you will see any difference in performance… I do have a prop not exactly sure the specs off my head but its a stainless one…

I can say the factory wiring was not exactly pretty looking. but a trip to livewire changed that:) I really cant say enough about how well they setup my simrad’s and cleaned up my electronics…

my boat is a 90 gallon. has the big livewell in the rear with the movable jumperseats… the center console has room for a portable potty (actually has more room than I would have ever thought) coming from a proline that was 1ft wider…

so this would be my basic cc layout… minus the ugly radio… it now has a new fusion ipod deck thinging lol

I have a star adjustable steering… it does seem to have a little play but I have new fluid and plan to check it before next trip… the steering wheel itself is adjustable as well you can tilt it nothing to crazy but enough where your up on the leaning post bar you can kick back comfortably…(I am 250-260lbs)

my complaints would be…
lack of rod holders up front. basically non existant.
lack of backing plates on rear rod holders. (I plan on running downriggers in mine) I have zwing instead of balls and they tend to cause allot of pressure.so I will be backing them.
the leaning post rod holders also double as the leaning post back rest holder… basically it eliminates 4 rod holders unless you plan on storing or not using the backrest… I actually like my back rest so I may deal with this or add about 6 more rod holders( I have ideas) lol

I do have trim tabs and it does help obviously… they fited it with the cheapest switch on the market… id really like s

I have an 2001 23 ft cc with twin 150 etechs and I have been as far as 60 plus miles out in it. I pick and choose my days. I have been caught in a few storms and it is rough riding but it got us back safe. I was out last Wednesday and was as far as 35 miles out and we were riding 42-43 mph all day long. If you any questions feel free to ask.

Thanks SC_Shark… The one I’m eyeballing does have the digital gauges and pet owner should show me the mpg and gph burn. Plan is to take it out Thursday and make a decision then. You gave me a lot of good info to check up on while I’m there.

keep me posted what you find/see or questions… if you want my cell pm me I can go over questions with you if ur on the boat and something seems off or your not sure they are feeding you a line.

Here we go again…

I purchased a 2015 Seafox 209 Commander back in June, so far it has been a great boat. My buddy has also owned a few Seafox boats and they were all great boats. I definitely agree with the comment above about getting the 200 hp motor on the 226, I have a 150 on my 209 and its great, but I don’t think it will get the job done for you on the 226.

Now I question should I bump to the 250 to max it out? I’m definitely going 200+. Dealer quoted 4-8k increase for the 250 depending the model
