Sea Hunt fuel sending unit

I can’t access or reach the fuel sending unit through the circular hatch in the deck on my sea hunt 225 WA. It looks like the floor panel has to be removed, which is maybe a 6 ft x 4ft panel with screws & caulk that would then expose the whole tank.

Does the CC have this same accessibility issue? Seems like it should be designed for easier access… Has anyone removed this floor panel on a sea hunt? Looks like it would take me all day to do…

I have CC, there is no Fuel sending unit that I am aware of other than the one pump on the motor, I just have a check valve and siphon line. If there is FSU in fuel cell, that would be news to me.

Was working on a friend’s 17 Ft this weekend, his sending unit has failed. But, it is immediately below the access cover stern side of the CC.

Of note on his model is that his tank is plastic, and it has a
low-spot on the top of the tank where the unit is installed.
That low-spot retains water, so he elected not to replace it, as it will certainly fail again soon due to the tank’s depression top side and retention of water.

if you have a gas gauge, you have a sending unit

if you can see exactly where to do it, just install another inspection hatch directly above the sending unit

I pulled the whole floor panel up and replaced the sending unit. It was very easy, just remove the screws, cut the caulk, and some TLC with a crow bar… the tank was aluminum… unfortunately the welds failed on the 4 small clips that hold the tank and the tank slid back toward the transom 9 inches… so no i need to pull the tank forward and install marine lumber around the tank to hold it in place…good think I pulled the floor board up or else my tank would continue to bounce around in there when low on fuel…

removing/repair work to the tank and lines on this model sea hunt is very easy access…

Oops, my bad, I interpreted “sending unit” as fuel pump[:I]
