Anyone got any first hand experience with this boat? I have previously owned a sea hunt bx so I am familiar with build quality ect. We currently have a pioneer 222 sf and I was looking at the 25 gamefish but honestly it just doesn’t seem like that much bigger of a boat. The ride didn’t seem substantially better either and I am not sure the boat would actually get me any more fishing days than the pioneer. So that got me thinking maybe just go with the 27. Would love the 266 pioneer but that just out of my price range. Opinions welcome. Thanks!
Find a used 3pc upper tier boat with solid engines and buy that. I liked my 222sf because it was inexpensive to run and fished bigger than it was but that boat was wet and not designed to be a serious offshore boat. I cannot tell you how much better the Southport is in every single way. It’s 11yrs old and better than any of these massed produced mid tier boats are new. Wiring, features, hardware, ride, dryness etc. Though technically Southport calls it 4pc construction. Regulator, Contender, Grady, etc. I’ve had to get out of the Pioneer fishability days mindset because days that were marginal in it are easily doable now.
The Pioneer works, caught a ton of fish in mine but it is small.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

I have had one for 5 years or so. I would probably trade the Raymarine electronics for Garmin but overall I am satisfied with it. I feel like it will fish and ride about as well as most 27’s out there. It is a solid boat but I cannot tell how many more days you would get than the 222. One way to squeeze more fishing days out of that 25-27 range would be to consider a power catamaran.
