Anybody having issues with their Sea Hunt - water in gas tank after rain?
Had the propblem…
I have 2008 Triumph 230 with a stainless steel gas fill/cap made by White Cap Marine (stock install on boat). Its the pop-up cap kind. The cap retaining wire would fall into the threeds of the fill portion when you screw on the cap. Just enough to let water in, but cause me to fret for about two months after getting water in the Racor Filter see-thru bowl.
“Discovered” the problem when the gas attendant said he couldn’t screw in my gas cap and found the wire was completely shredded of the plastic coating and all kinked up. Yureaka!!
The other problem with this type of gas cap, after it rains, rainwater will collect under the pop-up can, so next time you open it, your pouring in a tablespoon of water. I got in the habit of puhing the cap under/down several times to flush out the water before opening.

My dad had the 17 sea hunt, kept getting water in fuel, pulled inspection plate that is between console and cooler seat. Direct access to the fuel sending unit. Sending unit had corroded and was letting rainwater in. Pulled sending unit. Dropped hose to bottom of tank, hooked up 12v automotive fuel pump and pumped tank dry, replaced fuel sending unit. Refilled boat and installed new Racor. No more issues.
