Grand Pappy had a mid 80’s model when i was young. I remember his had a bracket that would plow water in reverse, causing no steering when backing. You could correct it by trimming the motor way up.
His did not have a Sharp “V” in the front, more of a rounded wanna be Whaler type hull. That thing would beat the hell out of you.
It was very heavy and tuff, just didn’t cut through the water. He had to way under prop it to plow through heavy seas, it was like hitting a brick wall in a rough following sea, bringing it down off plane… could of been a bit under powered though. Think he had a 175 or 200 Johnson if i remember right.
Then again… unless you say you are getting a Contender, Grady, Regulator, etc. you are not going to get a good response about a boat you are looking at.
Good luck, i don’t think it will fall apart while running… If you don’t want to pay $300 for a survey (which you should)… Go to a flooring place and ask to use a moister meter. I borrowed one the other day, they just wanted a deposit to use it.

Coast Guard used them in the 70’s and 80’s. They were tanks back them. I would like to have one when it’s time to replace my current boat.
The more we just complain…the more things stay the same.
Its built like a tank, has a terrible ride in anything over 3 ft. Make sure you get the transom checked out
