I found oil leaking out the cylinder on my sea star hydraulic steering so I ordered the reseal kit. Has anyone ever done it? If so , how hard was it? Thanks
Easy job. Use the spanner wrench and the nylon guide for the new seal. Make sure there are no nicks or burrs on the chrome shaft that would cut a new seal.
Might want to check out You Tube…there is a bunch of good stuff there…

I was going to order the seal kit and found some marks on the rod that concerned me to the point I ordered a new cylinder. The new ones have improved seals, zerk fitings on the tilt tube mounts, and a grounding wire to help prevent corrosion.
Seal replacement should be an easy job. Be very careful not to damage the rod in the process.

IF I RESPOND IN ALL CAPS, ITS NOT ON PURPOSE, AND I AM NOT YELLING
yes!
I started spraying lube every day prior to removal, then when the time came I was able to take a wooden broom handle and tap the arm from the opposite side until it broke loose.
BTW, hence the grease fittings on the newer model.
