Hey ya’ll… We’re doin it again… this time it’s for Speckled Sea Trout… The SC Chapter of Heroes on the Water will be holding a week long Sea Trout Tournament from 5-12 Dec 2009. Now even though HOW is a Kayak fishing program we are opening this up to our powerboat brothers and sisters. There will a powerboat division and a kayak division each with conventional fishing and fly fishing categories. Capt’s meeting will be on 4 Dec at 7PM at a location to be determined. Fishin will start at Midnite Friday and run through the week until Noon the following Saturday. This a CPR ( Catch Photo and Release) Tournament, but of course any legal fish can be kept… I just want pix for the so you’ll need to have the sooper secret tourney identifier that’ll coat ya $30 at the Capt’s meeting. Registration will start on 13 November. I will accept them via E-mail and I am going to try and get a few places around town to accept reg forms and payment for us. I wanted to get it out and let ya’ll know so ya’ll can make plans… More details and rules and stuff to come… If anyone would like to donate a prize for the tourney, make a donation to the SC Chapter of HOW or would like any more information you can contact us at
All money raised for this tournament will go to the SC Chapter of Heroes on the Water, a non-profit organization that takes injured war vets kayak fishing. We are just starting the chapter here and need to raise more money so we can buy the kayaks we need along with the paddles and other fishing gear we need to take these Heroes fishing. Just think, the simple act of kayak fishing to get you out of a hospital or recovery center and get a chance to relax and fish… we all know how great it feels to be out on the water fishin… with your help and support and spreading the word about HOW we can take these injured war vets and give them a little of what we get every time we launch our boat or kayak… Thanks for taking the time to read this and now that you know about HOW, pass

NJ,
Won’t be able to participate on this one. Gotta work, not that I can catch a trout anyway. I do have a flush mount rod holder to donate, I’ll probably pick up a second one so you have a matching set. You can use them as seventh place prizes, or mount them on a HOW kayak when the fleet grows.
Good luck to everyone participating!

Folks… Sorry to say it but we are going to have to cancel the tournament. With a whopping 8 people that are “definately” in and only another handful of maybes we are going to cancel and try to do it again in the spring. THANK you to all of you who did plan on it and I will e-mail you or PM you soon. We did manage to get the word out about HOW even more and that in itself is a success. It is a great orginazation and we’ll make it better with your help but this tourney is just not gonna happen now. set your calendars for MID OCTOBER 2010 for the 2nd Annual Redfishville Shoot-Out though… If anyone has any questions let me know. Thanks again to all of you and keep spreading the word about HOW!
Sad to hear that we can not make this happen, but i am glad that all of you got spared the beatin from the yaks. Thank you all for your support and helping us get the word out about HOW. I think there will be another tourney before Oct. though. I was thinking about a early april tourney, but will see.

I do have some Heroes we will be taking out SOON… We’ll need help with this and anyone who would liek to help out is more than welcome to come along… just like a tourney we’ll need support form varioous people/comapnies to make sure these Heroes are taken care of and given a solid day of fishing where they don;t have to want for anything…
