My family and I are heading down to Seabrook for our vacation May 29th thru June 6th and I really want to do some fishing. Where is the best places to fish on the island and what bait works the best? I would appreciate any kind of advice anyone could offer.
I don’t know about the beach on Sea Brook, I’ve never fished it. Find some sort of terrain feature on or near the beach that sets out off from the rest of the area. Go at low tide and look for sandbars, troughs, ditches, things of that nature. Those are the areas you’ll want to fish around. Use shrimp or fresh cut mullet with a pyramid sinker for a weight. When it comes to rods and reels you don’t need anything huge for 90 percent of the fish you’ll catch in the surf. A 4000 size reel on a 7 foot rod will work fine unless you’re targeting sharks and big red fish. Pm me if you need more information and I’ll be happy to help you.

We used to fish the dock at the end of Captain Sam’s Road, there is a nice lookout tower there as well. We’d catch a variety of fish using shrimp and cut bait, usually on the smaller side. If you have a cast net, you can catch some shrimp there. The northern part of the island on the beach by the Kiawah River can produce red fish, trout, whiting, sharks and stingrays. Also it’s a good place to watch the Dolphins strand feeding. We didn’t have much luck on the southern side near the editsto river. There are several ponds along the Seabeook Island Road that are fed by the Kiawah river at high tide. We pulled a few red fish from a non-descript pond there. This was our experience 10 plus years ago when we had a place there, things may have changed since then.
