I’m in the market for a good used boat and want something with a 24 deadrise. Currentl looking at the 21 contender and bluewater. I hear the 20’ SeaCraft is a good boat, but I don’t much about them. Any input would be helpful. I have a 20 seahunt dual console that I am selling. Thanks
Seacraft makes great boats, thier older hulls are favored, but they still make a great product. In my opinion, a 20’ deep V is kinda redundant. You cannot get into the flats, and you really have to pick your days to get offshore. Its a great cruising/drinking boat and nearshore, but add another few feet or go to a bay design and youll have a lot more options, but this is just my opinion. 25’ seacraft is one of my favorite CC’s good luck
strip…strip…FISH ON!
Sea Crafts are great boats, I am partial to the Potter Hull which is the original before Sea Craft was bought out and mass produced. Believe pre mid 80s is original Potter but could not swear by it. I have the 23-Contender and love it for nearshore and offshore. The 21 is a great boat but a little more tippy. I kind of have to agree with flyfish, if you want a good all around boat the 21 draws a lot of water to fish inshore regularly. If you are looking to spend more time beyond the rocks, then I would seriously consider moving up to a 23. if you want the steep deadrise in the 21 to 23 your choices are all great, Contender, Regulator, and Sea Craft. If you are looking for an all around boat to do some offshore and lots of nearshore/offshore then a good bay boat is most ideal.
So are you taking this boat offshore alot? Use it for trolling and not bottom fishing? Wondering why you’re set on a 24 degree deadrise.
ive owned 2 of them
great hulls, just make sure the transom is solid
they used wood
I just bought 79 Sceptre. Mine has a bracket with twins. As mentioned the transom and floors are wood cored. Finding one without these problems I believe is pretty rare due their age. I know, I just redid the entire floor. Otherwise fantastic riding boats. Good luck!
SeaCrafts are great riding boats. The 20 is a fairly small boat. Inside 3 miles would be fine, but for getting out a little further, I would look at a 23.
