Seadek

What do you think of Seadek for deck flooring, bolsters, etc…

I’ve been considering it myself so I’ve been doing a lot of research. The two main comments I’m seeing are awesome reviews on comfort and horrible reviews on the ability to keep clean/clean it.

I’m still on the fence.

No matter how much it hurts, how dark it gets, or how far you fall…you are never out of the fight.

2 years on my trailer fenders and top of my console no problems. Both seem to get pretty messy, but cleans up pretty well. Mine is also a light cream color.

Customer service at Seadek is horrible, and their shipping is criminal though.

I seen on thehulltruth.com that a couple of guys were having issues with it melting in areas wher it was getting a lot of reflection from shiny gelcoat, with certain colors but Seadeck did step up and take care of it and then reworded their warranty. Do your research before making a decision.

How does it come off when you want to change or remove it?

Everyone I know seems to love it. Can’t say anything from personal experience though. I am getting a sea deck helm pad though. Awesome product.

This is my dilemma. I’ve used products with 3M double sided tape in sheet form, and it is some serious stuff if applied properly, as they tell you to do.

So, for $1000+ I can do my whole boat, with a 3 year warranty. What happens in 5 years when it’s falling apart? How do I get it up, and when I do, what will be the condition of the stuff underneath? How much cleanup will be involved in preparing the surface for another $1000 application of the stuff to fail in a few years?

Lots of people say it cleans easy, lots say it doesn’t.
Lots of people say it lasts a long time, lots say it doesn’t.
Lots of people say the money is worth it, some say it isn’t.

But even after all of that, I am considering a similar product from another brand, in sheet form, to do my own install at some point.

I was checking it out at the boat show. My primary concern is removal. I was worried about removing the 3m adhesive. I remove that stuff from cars all the time and there isn’t a nice way to do it. After its been applied for about a week that stuff is nearly permanent without heavy scrubbing.

The rep also said that he has removed and reapplied it many times, and it does discolor the gel coat on some boats.

They admit that it will wear out in high traffic areas, even within the warranty period which will not be covered by the warranty. It sure does look good though.

I installed Camo Hydro Turf 6 or 7 years ago on a jonboat deck and benches. The front deck started fading and would leave stains on your skin if knelt for a fish etc. Basically deteriorated. Usually kept covered but that’s the only reason it lasted that long. Ridiculous to remove. Got 90% up and went back over benches with marine vinyl over marine plywood. Redid the front deck completely. I’d use the stuff again, but not in a high traffic area.

Seadek offers “sheet” product as well.

Yeah they do, same product (essentially), same adhesives, double the price…

I purchased a small sheet of SeaDek to cover a small section in the bow of my boat. I thought the product was somewhat difficult to work with- for example, you would measure and cut the piece to fit, but in applying there was some stretch when applying. I am not sure how it will clean up. It looks like it will be a pain to remove it. I had originally planned to install more of it- but after working with it- I am thinking I will not be using any additional.

I am looking at some infinity flooring I have several friends using it. All say it cleans up well, dries quick and has been wearing well. You may check it out as another choice.

I went with Marine Mat… no complaints so far

How long has it been installed? Do you keep it covered or does it get a lot of sun?

It looks great. Did you install it yourself?

Thanks, I will check it out and may look into Marine Mat also.

Just installed before this season so its still fresh. I keep the boat covered when not in use.

I installed myself, made a template of the boat with some clear plastic, mailed it in with what I wanted done and they had it back to my door in 3 weeks. Install was straightforward. I took my time to clean the surface thoroughly before installing so I don’t have any issues further down the road.

Hasn’t been down long enough to tell but I got samples of SeaDek first because I was going to use them, but opted out because they were 6-8weeks out on starting the job Feels the same, I went with the brushed texture rather than the dimpled, felt a little easier on the feet for the long days. Only thing Ive noticed is you need to clean the blood off of it fairly soon to avoid having to really scrub it later in the day, so we just hit the washdown after making a mess and keep it sprayed off throughout the day.

If this stuff holds up through the season(which i feel sure it will) I’ll be doing the outer sections of the floor as well so have a padded deck throughout the rear of the boat.

I put down a helm pad as well
