Seafox Commander 246

New to this site. I am about to pull the trigger on a new Sea Fox Commander 246. I have read many forums and seen the vast array of opinions. Has anyone purchased one of the boats in the last year? If so could you please provide some ■■■■■■■■.

I am also selling a 2012 Carolina Skiff 218DLV. If anyone is interested let me know and I will get you pictures and details. Boat and motor only have 74 hours on them.

Also, you may get a better discussion going if you posted this over in the Boats and Motors forum.

Good luck on the new boat and getting rid of the “old” one!

Those boats are vastly differnt! What are you planning to do with the boat?

Near shore and limited offshore fishing. Cruising the water with the family and pulling a tube. I bought the skiff to fish the rivers and creeks but now every time I put the boat in the water the wife and kids want to go as well - which I consider a good thing. The skiff is a great fishing boat but not ideal in any chop with a wife and two daughters aboard.

Have you priced out a Sea Hunt Gamefish 25? Not sure what the difference of price would be, but it has a wider beam, deeper deadrise, more fuel, better resale, and the option for twins. Your next step is going to be wanting to chase bulls, and blues, so might as well get a battle wagon ready to go that still offers family features, and cruising potential.

I bought a 256 Commander last year and love it. Very dry stable ride and it drafts pretty shallow for its size. Sea Fox (dealer and manufacturer) honor their warranties and always give me a quick turn around. I also owned a 2012 226 Commander for about 8 months before I traded up and it would get me offshore very comfortably. The staff at Palmetto Boat Sales are great and can answer any questions you have. Not to be biased but the other guys around town were rude and never got back with me even though I told them I was serious about buying. Also I think that Palmetto Boat Sales are the only dealership that accept trades. The other dealers only do consignment sales and you normally get about as much as you would on trade with consignment due to their 10% handling and commission charge.
