Hey guys. Planning on hitting the water this Saturday assuming weather holds up. I’ve never fished our waters in the winter. Additionally I’ve never fished for reds at high tide, so I’m setting myself up for double failure. Any tips on how I should change up my tactics?
In the warmer months on lower tides I’ve cruised the banks looking for marsh cuts draining over structure or pockets of submerged structure. Clearly that’s not going to work. Probably even less so now that the reds are schooling up. Thanks for any advice in advance!
There have been some reports of good bites on docks on the high water recently. I would suggest trying docks until you find one holding fish. Mud minnows on a jig head seems to be the preferred bait. Good luck
The reds are schooled up now but they still move around a little. If you know where some schools are then you can fish nearby pools or edges on a higher tide. Docks near schools are often good and for longer through the tide cycle than in warmer weather. What area are you goin to try?
