SeaSchool - Charleston

Anyone know if SeaSchool here in Charleston a good place to take the OUPV Captains license course? I’ve been boating nearshore/offshore for 25+ years and figure its time to pursue this. I’d rather bite the bullet and do the six day (over two weekends) in-class route verses taking the course online.
Interested to hear from anyone who’s taken this course at SeaSchool here in Charleston.

I took mine through SeaSchool Charleston back in '97. Very pleased with the instructor, content and preparation. I’m not an online course type of person because I like to ask questions/clarifications as well as the personal interaction with classmates and the instructor. Katherine is absolutely wonderful and will guide you through the process, paperwork, coordinate your testing as well as helping you with a makeup class in case you miss one. She even set you up with your Physical. Actually makes it pretty simple.

I’ve taken 4 Sea School courses, all in Savannah, not Charleston, but their instructors travel around. They were all first class, excellent and worth every penny. Best instructors I’ve ever had. I would not hesitate to take another one.

It’s a great way to go. Did mine 6 years ago and they made the process pretty easy. I would recommend them to anyone looking to get a license.

Great place for classes & Katherine is great to deal with. I’ve taken classes for work there & you can’t beat it

I did the two weekend course and got the towing rider as well which if you have the opportunity Id recommend that as well. Nothing beats practice questions for the test but the course was good and well taught. As others have said, Katherine is very helpful in administering the test and helping with all the paperwork. The rules of the road are basically brute memorization and the course really can’t get you ready for that but theres tons of mnemonics on the web.
Red over red, the captain is dead.

Sea School taught us a lot of mnemonics like that. It really helps a lot for the memory. Stuff you never forget. Stuff that might save your life one day too.
