Seasonal Weather Status

In your opinion, how does this seasons crappy weather stack up with previous seasons? One of the worst in recent years in my opinion.

Honestly I can’t remember a worse season. A May named storm, A two week NE blow. The week after the NE wind this 100 degree Schidt began.

This season has been horrible. Planned on heading out the next three days but after looking at the report I think I’ll just stay home. .I’m praying the weather chills out a little for fishing for miracles.

I second that. Worst year I can remember in a long time. 2 straight weeks of E NE winds during the middle of the dolphin run set the tone for rest of the spring and summer so far. Hoping for payback in the fall.

I agree. Only been able to fish 4 times this year. Hoping that the fall wahoo bite will make up for it. The couple of trips we took in May were good but needed more meat to get through the year.

It has to be costing the local shops for food, fuel and gear. I put 2000 hours on my boat in the first 4 years. So, 500 a year average. Next 2 years I put about 700, down to 350 per year. This past 18 months I have put 150 hours on it. I have taken my money to India, Sri Lanka, Mexico, Belize…next week, off to Cape Cod for Bluefin. I am not wealthy. I have just chosen to spend my money elsewhere and the weather has been a big part of it.

Don’t worry guys, it will be FLAT CALM in October. How do I know this? Because my wife is due at the end of October, which is when I will be forced to stay on land as we get close to the due date… Then again, I DO have a sat phone now… Hmmmmm…

Haha good luck with that one skinneej! If she lets you go fishing that close to the baby coming she’s a keeper!

Try running a cbarter business in this constant wind. Probably the windiest year I can remember in the past 15. Having to factor the wind in to every day has sucked.

Kinda hard operating a boat in this wind especially if you depend on a fish whistle.

I thought it was just me…this yr has sucked ass…

Saving gas money to put towards a Freeman so I can fish no matter what the wind is doing.

The sailing has been great! The fishing…not so much

That’s right, kinda like when we fished last week out of the 197SF,.

I have the Pioneer, but the amount of punishment I am willing to take is inversely proportional to the years of my age!

This is my first season with my Sea Hunt 234. I have been beat up all year. I live in Athens, Ga so when I go, I have to commit. Many told me a 20-21’ foot boat is best for towing the distances I go. I could not imagine fighting some of the seas I have endured this year. We even got our but kicked in Marathon, Fl this year. Only two manageable days out of seven. People talk of flat and calm seas I say BS. We are catching some fish and come home safe that is what is important.
