seat removal

Does anyone have any experience in removing the middle seat out of a jon boat? I have a 1548 G3 jon boat and want to remove the middle seat. It is the one with the live well in it. there is no rib behind the seat and with the live well in the middle i don’t believe there is a real loss of flotation in the removal. there are ribs on either side of it that are evenly spaced with the rest of the ribs…Any opinions on if this is a good idea or not? The amount of space this would give me would be huge.

Just drill out the pop rivits, take out seat and well, install new rivits leave in plug for live well! I was easy in my Duracraft, I removed the plug and fitting and rivited on an external patch of 024 alum. gutter material and filled the interior with epoxie, never has leaked add a lot of room

Sure, it’s easy to remove, but I’m not sure it’s a good idea. The center seat in many jon boats are structural and provides a lot of athwart ship stiffness. Removing it could allow the hull to flex too much. I would check with G3 customer service before removing it. It might be fine, but it might not.
