Hey yall, I really wanna get down to Florida this summer and try for that famous florida fishing. I head on THT that Sebastian was the northernmost inlet to catch good snook. I want a snook so bad! I am thinking sometime July because nothing is going on. I want to catch a snook, some mangrove snapper, gator trout, tarpon?, some redfish of course, and pompano in the surf I’ve heard about. I heard that occasionally tarpon and grouper are caught in the inlet, along with big sharks so maybe throw out a big rod with live bait in the inlet. We want to keep the cost at a minimum but no way my parents are camping out in July. Are there some good motels or cheap hotels to stay. We want to stay away from expensive resorts. And also we are debating what boat to take. Either the flats boat a slow Jon boat with platform or 19’ bay boat. I mean if there are good places to wade then we might take the big boat and fish the inlet and wade. But at the sake time if the fish are gonna he in the flats or mangroves or flats we can take the flats boat and fish Tue inlet from pier. Are their places to wade among the mangroves and flats for snook trout and snapper? We really just have Jo idea how to fish this but want to catch some snook and other fish. Also how is the surf it is close to our place were staying?

It’s been a lot of years since I’ve lived in that neighborhood(Titusville-Daytona '86-'90). I do know that the inlet can be treacherous at times. It’s very narrow and the tide rips through there. I’ve caught some nice snook at night, fishing on an outgoing tide between the jetties, using 10-12 inch whole mullet. But that was on a 23" walk-around with some one at the helm at all times. We would take turns keeping the boat in position while the other two fished. I’ve seen some big sharks come out of there too.
As far as places to stay I don’t have a clue. Try surfing the net and see what comes up.

Snook fishing is great there as well as the other fish you mentioned. The north jetty is usually pretty crowded but they catch fish, especially at night. Spend some time watching the locals and you will get the idea on what they are doing. As far as boating, stick with the river. South Florida inlets are not like the inlets in SC, they are narrow and short with wicked currents. You can get into trouble real fast. There are numerous places to wade and good grass beds and shorelines to fish from a boat. There are lots of places to stay on A1A and the mainland. July is considered the “off season” so the prices aren’t too bad. There is also a state park and county park just up from the inlet. If you do have a boat, steer clear of the clam and oyster leases, those guys get real upset if you get too close. Some even have houseboats on the lease to guard their investment.

A great place to stay in Sebastion is Capt. Hirams. Waterfront, with a good marina.

Keep in mind that Sebastian Inlet is one of the best surfing spots on the Florida coast…and for good reason. At certain tides and wind conditions, the swell really pops up near the jetty. The current is pretty scary in that inlet but the fishing is awesome. I caught a 4’ redfish just a short way from the bridge on the inside years ago. Other tha snook, you can catch huge reds, trout, flounder, jacks, sharks, and probably even tarpon. As mentioned above, the inlet can be treacherous give the right conditions. The river just inside the bridge offers some excellent fishing and is not near as dangerous.

Yakman, I think I would kill you if it ended up looking like this
If you have youtube account send BlacktipH a pm. He is always helpful and responds with what he can.
Light travel’s faster than sound. This is why some people appear smart until you hear them speak.
For the best snook fishing in July drive down to Jupiter. The spawners are chewing at the jetties. You can easily catch 20+ overslot snook in an afternoon.
