When adding a secondary or backup bilge pump, do you add another float switch or do you let this pump work only as a manual(flip the switch) type pump. Do you go with the same size pump as the primary or larger?
Also, does anyone have a local source for 3" or 3 1/2"(not sure which yet) ID exhaust pipe that doesn’t have an inflated West Marine price on it.

Yeah, but do you consider a dog to be a filthy animal? I wouldn’t go so far as to call a dog filthy but they’re definitely dirty. But, a dog’s got personality. Personality goes a long way.

what about a float switch and manual swotch with the float mounted higher than the primary and a larger pump that could then be mounted near the primary pump
i have 2 and both are on their own circuit with their own float switch…
also while your at it get a high water alarm,no matter how many pumps /switches you have they will fail when you need them the most…trust me,i have been there twice and both times there was a failure either with the pump or the float switch, thankfully the high water alarm alerted us something was wrong before it got out of hand…
Chris, that was kind of what I was thinking. I just wasn’t sure on the extra float switch. I didn’t see a need for both pumps running simultaneously. I didn’t think about the high water alarm, thats a good idea and piece of reference.
