I am trying to sell my boat before I leave on my deployment in a couple months. I have scanned Craigslist, Iboats and countless other classified and boating websites looking to see what comparable center consoles are going for. I have seen them go from 5,500-11,000. That isn’t much help since that is a huge price margin. NADA isn’t much help either since rarely are private sales based on NADA or KBB (at least for cars/trucks) I am not in a huge rush to sell it since I have a couple months but would like to unload it before I leave so I can get another bigger one when I get back.
What is everyones opinion on an asking price for
20’4" '94 Angler cc with a 150 blackmax, t-top vhf, gps/ff, 2009 tandem axle karavan trailer with brakes. It isn’t perfect, don’t have exact hours since rebuild (around 75 probably), perfectly even compression. Nothin wrong with it really. That isn’t much detail I know but if you had the boat, what would you ask for it? “toys” are hard to sell, especially boats this time of year so it is possible (although not preferred) to wait until I get back in August. Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks

I sold my boat in less then a week. I got the low value of NADA with all my options included. I took the time to take great pictures and make a video of the boat running and put it on ebay. I had a guy drive down on a wednesday from Augusta and came back the following saturday with a certified check pending a river test. The transaction took place outside of ebay so that saved me a $100. And I already had somebody else make an offer better than the first guy. I didn’t take it because I had already agreed on a price with the first guy. People who complain they can’t anyone to buy their boat probably owe to much and are being unrealistic with the price.
price it right (whatever that is) or that couple of months will fly by. It took me over a year to figure that out when I sold mine. If it’s the LEAST bit overpriced you won’t even get a call. I’m just speaking from experience, not trying to be a wise azz

Yeah that is what I was thinking. I had it at 9700…got two calls, one guy was going to come up from GA to look at mine and another boat and ended up buying the other one before he looked at mine. Dropped the price to 8500 and haven’t gotten one call. Got a call from a dealer that said it was priced below blue book at they would buy it from me… ???

Yeah I took a video of my buddy doing a compression test and have a few good pictures…thought about going through ebay…my mustang sold pretty quick that way. Good thing it is paid for…either way I am in the green. just trying to get as much as I can for it because my wife said that I can ONLY use the m
Guessing you only have it on Craigslist, and not boattrader… Post it in the Myrtle beach and Wilmington area. When you get calls, have them meet you when you are in those areas fishing… or they might drive up to see it.
There is no market at all for ocean boats in our area (Fayetteville). The people that do search for them usually look at the posts on the coast… i know that’s what i do.
Hell you can even leave it in Myrtle for a couple months… browsers can just swing by and check it out.
Spring will be a much better time to sell… unless you have a pilot house.

take it to Hankel Marine or Renken Boat Center, those guys will pay to advertise on : boat trader, yatchworld and others. They will get 10 percent for selling your boat. Both are great at it and good people, Deret at Renken sold my boat with 2 weeks for full asking price.
I will be glad to help if I can. I have been selling quite a few boats here lately. Things may be starting to turn around!
