I have a question… Why would someone put a sardine in their mouth? I thought those were only used to bait raccoon\opossum traps?

skinneej - have you ever tried them? If not, try one and get back to me  I love em

Sardines are the one of fishing foods of champions. Others include, Potted Meat, Vienna Sausages and canned smoked oysters.

As a child, I ate potted meat and vienna sausages. we called those vienna sausages “Stand Up Weinies”. When you opened the can and plopped them out on the plate, they stood up all stuck together.

I ate that stuff until I learned how to read !

gregsc - Ralph calls Viennas “standups” and sardines “laydowns”

skinneej and 23, don’t knock em till you tried em. with a raw vidalia onion, some pepper-jack and a glass of red wine - thats about as good as it gets

man yall need to fish with bug catcher. he feeds ya way better !!

Sardines are really good and those little cans are packed with nutrients: omega-3s, calcium, and iron. I eat them straight out of the can with saltines, but I might have to try them on a sandwich.

As an added bonus, take some to work. After eating them, save the can and when a co-worker isn’t looking put the empty can in their garbage can under a piece of paper so they can’t see it. This is particularly fun if said co-worker can be described as uppity, persnickety, or easily-offended.

If you’re lucky enough to be fishing, you’re lucky enough.

Standard fare when fishing with my Granddad. Washed down with RC Cola, Orange Crush or Grape Nehi.

“Apathy is the Glove into Which Evil Slips It’s Hand”, but really, who cares?

I prefer my sardines in mustard sauce but they are in fact good eats.

No matter how much it hurts, how dark it gets, or how far you fall…you are never out of the fight.

When I worked in the back country and had to carry ‘jungle lunch’ (no refrigeration) sardines, saltines, vienna sausages, nabs (Nabisco cheese/PB crackers), and Slim Jims were staples found in all the trucks.

And if you ever get the chance, try fresh grilled sardines. They compare to the canned ones as fresh grilled tuna compares to the canned.

No way, you use cheap cat food for that.

Buttered toast and sardines, you can not go wrong. Wife got me some “Gourmet” sardines, talk about good!

Also try some kippers mixed in with a bowl of instant cheese grits Skinneej. Just do it when you don’t have any company coming over and can open the windows. Kind of strong smelling. Wife actually stocks me up when she knows she’ll be away for a bit.

I’ll take your word for the sardines. I do like what I can see of the knife. Can we get a better view, description, source, etc. Also, where did you find ripe red tomatoes?
