He had the engine oil, foot oil, something else and timing belt checked. He is a very competent mechanic, I have seen him do extensive work on $30k+ diesel engines but he was scared about voiding his warranty.
Is Yamaha that bad about warranty? Why not change the oil yourself and if they want a printout, haul it in and tell them to print away.
I have over 2400 hours on my F150, and I have performed every service. When I have had to take her in for issues, Yamaha was quick to take care of me! It is much cheaper to do it yourself! Pretty simple, too!
I change the crankcase oil and the lower unit oil every 100-115 hours.

there isn’t a 50 hour service requirement from Yamaha
there is a 20 hour break-in and then its every year or 100 hours
Well im 27on hrs over. Still i need to get this done. So Chris what is your rates to do this?

The yamaha owners manual shows what can be done by the owner, just about all maint. can be diy without hurting the warranty. Save your documentation and keep a maint. log and you are good to go. Each year I change the lower unit oil, engine oil, oil filter, spark plugs, clean or replace the water seperator and change the onboard fuel filter. This all runs about $130 for parts and oils. On odd years I also rebuild the water pump. This adds about $50 bucks to the above.
However, I have had a life time of experence working on boat motors of all types. If you don’t have the tools and skills, don’t screw up a fine engine trying to save a few bucks.

Don’t want to hijack the thread but was wondering what an annual service on a 200 Suzuki would set me back? Thanks

Annual Service on a Suzuki 140 ran me $400+
Unfortunately at that price I’ll be doing my own maintenance.
all larger 4 strokes run $289 plus parts
parts vary greatly from motor to motor and customer to customer
zincs may not need to be replaced everytime, as well as spark plugs, etc…
