Thanks to Yakin4redfish, I am now a proud owner of a caster 12.5.
Next thing I have to do is get it set up, for use. I have the paddle, seat and lifejacket (basics).
what else is pretty important to have ?
Thanks

DNR requires a signal device like a good whistle or other type of loud sounding device…get an anchor or stakeout pole so you can stay in place in the current or wind…check out Yakattack.us they make top quality kayak rigging gear…also look at the kayak rigging link on sc kayak fishing forum

That is a good little boat. I bought one and really liked it, especially for the money. I ended up giving it to my son and bought another boat but it paddles and fishes well.
Thanks for the info, now if it will only stop raining everytime I head to the water.

Although I’ve really enjoyed my Caster 125, I’d recommend getting a couple scupper plugs if you don’t already have them. Once you get to paddling, a good bit of water likes to come in and sit around your feet. Also, I made an anchor trolley kit for mine and it comes in handy all the time. All the stuff costs 10-15 bucks at lowes. If you’re feeling brave/stupid try standing in the seat. It takes a little getting used to but it’s doable. I’ve had some close calls but haven’t fallen yet…
One more thing - make sure to check out youtube for some great rigging ideas.
Those yellow, foam practice golf balls make great scupper plugs. I drilled holes through several and ran para cord through them with a stainless washer at the bottom and made a loop at the top for easy removal.
Crate for junk, anchor trolley is a must. Went a year without one and now I dont know how I managed without it. Upgraded set is also a big plus because mine is terrible and after a few hours on the water its a must. You will love it, my yak is one of my favorite things… along with the fly rod.
