I’m going to heading out to the Tail Race this week, the boy and I are ready. Are they in thick yet or is the big surge still to come?
I had a blast out there last year, we caught a bunch and we saw a lot of other people catch a bunch. It was great until my boat’s gear linkage broke! Good thing there were plenty of people and some guy towed me back to the launch! My son and nephew still talk about that all the time:)
Probably going to try it Thursday and Sunday. See y’all out there
Franky try the small light green curly tail grub with 1/8th jig head. I fish them on ultra light rods and reels with about 4lb line talk about some fun.
So, any type of the green/chartrues curly tail huh? That works, I do have a bunch of the green lures, just need some sabiki rigs for the herring. Hope to catch some for the cat fishing trip sunday.
Any of you ever throw out a cat fish rod and catch the blues/channel cats out there in the canal?
FrankyD…absolutely you can catch catfish in the canal if you toss out a chunk of herring Sabiki rigs can be found pretty well anywhere whether it be wally world, sports authority, or any local tackle shop. Really small gold hook ones work the best for herring and all of the cats i towed back were about 7 - 10 pound blues, but much bigger are swimming down there. Hopefully in about 2 weeks I can have my turn to shad fish a bit but get em warmed up for me!
Thanks for the info Dave! Hit me if you come to chucktown, we can hit the river! I plan on having a few options and minnows to keep my son busy if the bite is slow. Will post reports and hopefully pics!
