Are the shad showing up at Wilsons Landing or at Arrowhead landing yet? I have a 6 year old I want to put on them, but right now I’m just using my jon boat with a trolling motor, so I’m not sure about putting in the Tailrace. I have PLENTY of back-up battery available but if the current is ripping, I’m not sure the trolling motor will be much use for me going upstream.
Where are those landings?
She thinks were just fishin…

Wilson’s landing is just below the lake Marion dam, you take the road that leads to Harry’s Fish Camp on lake Marion to get to it. Very shallow water for the first 400? yards down river, so small boats are best.
Arrow Head landing ( near Saint Stevens ) is at the spot where the Santee River and the Rediversion Canal meet.
I’d watch yourself at Arrowhead with just the trolling motor. If they kick those gates open while you are out, then you might find yourself heading for Jamestown.

He’s not lying.
That’s a good point guys. The times I’ve been at Arrowhead, they weren’t flowing much, but I could see that happening and being a bad thing. I’ll stick to the bank there.
Any idea when the shad hit Wilsons?
