Hi guys: I’m looking for a fly pattern for shad in the South Carolina/Georgia fishery. I’ve found several that work up north, but our local shad might want something different. Any suggestions are welcome.

#6 hook, medium lead dumbell eyes, and any color as long as it’s chartreuse.
Something like this…

Pillage and plunder with a 9wt and a fist full of clousers.
but chartruese…
ScottyD taught me to put a heavy (read HEAVY) fly on then tie in about 18" of leader to the bend and tie in a size 6 fly and they will hit the back one… the front one is to get and keep your fly down… Good Luck… Gonna try and hit them this week myself ![]()

sink tips lines help tremendously. my non fishing friends laugh like hell when i use the word “chartreuse”. ha! i usually throw a 225-350gr depending on water flow.
I second all the above. Use a sinking line and two flies. I just use two of the same fly like in the pic above. This setup worked last weekend. Those fish aren’t rocket scientists… ![]()

Shad will eat those just fine. nice work oc
Hey Scottie. Did you ever fish that shad fly I gave at the landing. The day I met you and Jeremy at the landing. That one has been true blue for me.
