Shad Run

Got a few redneck tarpon the other day. If anyone wants to go puts some kids or a new angler on the fish cheap the time is now!!

What bait were you using, I went to tail race the other day and only landed one 20 inch shad and missed about 3 or 4 over 15 inches but caught a ton of herring. How big are the big ones in the picture.

17ft Key west

Go to Angler's in Moncks Corner. They'll show you what you need

21 Contender

green grub (mr twister is a good one) on a pink jig head like 1/16 oz. gotta be on the bottom and its a little hit and miss. they were runnin between 2-3 pounds on the bucks and 3-4 on the roe.

They are fun especially when the saltwater is slow. I used grub similar to above mentioned and used a very light rod (about 3 1/2 foot with 4 lb mono.) Fish slowly with small twitches as lure sinks.

i run two grubs at the time with a little heavier set up to handle two at the time which happens sometimes. I run a 5.5 light rod with a 2000 reel spooled with 15 lb braid

Green or Orange grub with a 1/4 ounce jig head, or a lighter jig head and a bit of split shot worked fantastic when I went. You had to be in exactly the right spot, 40’ in either direction folks were extremely slow and we were double and tripled up all day.

I LIKE THE EDDIES

I use a pink head and a green grub from Anglers in MC. You can cast and retrieve or bottom fish, works either way. Those pelicans can be pesky though.

Crab trap LOL

Are you thinking Shad or Herring? Sabiki’s are great out in the deeper water of tailrace for smaller herring, but I imagine the shad would tear it apart…

Fished the tailrace today.

The sabiki is a pro tip. Get the bigger version.
