Shallow Water Anchor's - What's best?

Thinking of saving some $$$ to get a Power Pole or Minn Kota shallow water anchor. Any thoughts on which is better, more reliable, ease of use, etc, etc?

Is it worth the cost? I would be putting it on a Pioneer 197SF.

Thanks in advance!

I have a stick it anchor and I am very happy with it. It is inexpensive and works great. I have the 8 ft. model and they just came out with a 10 ft. model. I find that I rarely use a typical anchor any longer unless I am in real deep water, which is rare.

I would consider spending the money on an iPilot trolling motor. I have seen one in action and it is awesome. Put it in hover mode and stay right where you want or work a grassline, etc… I don’t know what the price difference is(if any).

No experience with the Minn Kota. The Powerpole is a great tool. Once you use one, you will wonder how you did without it. If you are constantly moving while fishing, it is a life saver. Get two if you can!!

On another note; Look in the dictionary for Customer Service, and you will see Powerpole’s Logo. They are the best folks I have every dealt with!! Hands Down!!

Why get 2 power poles? My understanding that 1 holds fine.

Just curious

we service powerpole and talon, powerpole is better, far better.

2 powerpoles prevent the boat from pivoting in wind or current

I love my power pole and the customer service is fantastic.

A REDNECK anchor works fine - 8 foot rebar with a line attached to cleat off. Throw the dart (rebar) in the mud and tie off. Holds fine. Cost = about $10

The Powerpole would seem to be in the way for trolling or anchored fishing off the stern in the current. Any ■■■■■■■■?

i use minn kota and i love it. never had any issue, and performs great.

with either pp or mk, having two on one boat stops pivoting, and holds your vessel perfectly in place. vs one where you could potentially have pivoting movement, but of course can be corrected by trolling motor to an extent.

food for thought as to mk vs pp, mk is all self contained electric, no hydraulics. all you have to do is hook it up to battery(can change to other boats easily). and in case of failure, theres a small nut of sorts to turn manually to raise the pole.

both are similarly priced, mk may be slightly cheaper though.

both are good just depends on which method you would prefer.
