Do the kings come shallower than 60ft this time of year? May be forced to fish tomorrow and want to stay as close as possible.

I’ve hooked a king trolling for spanish at the jetties before. They will come all the way to the beach. The shipping channel is a good bet too trolling big plugs. Either way look too rough for a 22’ boat for me tomorrow.
mid Sept - early Oct the kings will be right off the beach for the mullet migration
My biggest king was Labor Day weekend criss-crossing the shipping channel inside Charleston jetties with a Rapala X-rap on a wire leader. Good luck.

A buddy has success free lining pogies while bottom fishing and chumming in 60 to 80ft with pogies. I think he said he’s caught 15 in a day but they were smaller class kings but usually catches a 20 or 30lb king and a few smaller ones.
