I have twin grandsons of 5.5 yrs. old. Marshall and Brady.
I teach them to share so be not a hypocrite, here’s one for all ya’ll sr. members and what not.
Sittin’ on the bow of the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower CVN 69 during QUALS. @ GITMO in the late 70’s, Me and a few other sailors witnessed the following E. of the creek 100+ mi. Off of Jax.
@ about 25 kts. we were stirring up massive schools of flying fish. Some in the 3 lb. range. Porpoise were at the bow and way beyond chasing the birds. All at once a school of 5 to 8 lb. dolphin get on the birds and all hell brakes loose. There were tuna behind the pups, LG. TUNA… EST. 6 spotted in the 6 ft. range, All Blues.
The melee’ was furious in the water around the boat for 2 or 3 min. until we passed. The porpoise and all others were gone after that.
God knows who ate who. But a sight only lived once.
To ya’ll boys.
Ok boys, 1 more. On the same cruise, as we weaved between the islands and got up castro’s rear end of the island, We ran into the most massive C. dolphin we ever saw. In excess of 200 riding with us til dusk that night.
Story from inshore. About 20 years ago, two friends and I pulled from inshore into a fairly small inlet to fish. There was two to three acres of water jiggling. The bottom machine blacked out all the way to the surface. We spent th next 30 minutes watching tarpon over a hundred pounds, huge red fish, and sharks tearing through a massive school of very large mullet. Tarpon breaking all around the boat with the mullet jumping in the air to escape. Then all suddenly went quiet. Most amazing thing I have ever seen on the water.
