Need some help please. Got some friends visiting and staying at IOP. My buddy’s wife REALLY, I mean REALLY, wants to catch a shark, any shark. I haven’t targeted them in a few years but wouldn’t a rod rigged w/ crab and another rigged with fresh mullet do it from the beach? We would do it in the evening maybe from 6-9 when there aren’t a lot of swinmmers present. This has been a life-long dream of hers and I’m feeling the pressure. I’ve got all the gear and rigs, just need to know I’m hitting the right spot. They are here until Friday so only have a few nights left to make it happen!
Local we did well with small live whiting hooked through the back but did really well with a half a crab on the hook .
Wicked fishing
Thanks for the info, how recently did you do this? I saw menhaden right off the beaches a couple of weeks ago so I think the sharks ought to be there too.
I was out around IOP this weekend and caught a few dozen 12"-24" sharks on dead menhaden. No idea what kind. Sharks don’t seem to be very picky though. They are a lot of fun on an ultralight! Has anyone every tried using those as bait for something bigger???
Local it was this past weekend.

Local, just go to Breach Inlet, fish on either side. I’ve seen more sharks caught on the IOP side. Sling out some big chunks of cut mullet, cut whiting, croaker. Use circle hooks, stand by the sand spike in case you have a big boy grab on. Should produce something for you, I’ve caught a lot of sharpnose there.
Moral judgment under girds the entire structure of laws and is necessary for the rational structure of any significant statute. The idea that our laws can stand independent of moral foundation is senseless.----- Albert Mohler.
Local, its a piece of cake. Walk the beach at low tide and find a sandbar. Fish the back side of the bar and the trough at high tide. Work your way up the food chain. Use frozen shrimp on small hooks to catch whiting and pompano. Take whatever you catch, put it on a circle hook with about a four once sinker and fling it just beyond the breaking waves. From that point its just a waiting game. Live bait is key. Use wire or heavy mono with your live bait rigs.

X 2 on Breach’s inlet
Thanks everybody. Looks like we’re gonna try it tommorow night. I’ll throw the crab pots out today for crab, cast for some mullet and anyhing else I can find. A sharpnose or bonnethead would do the trick.
So how did you do???
