Shark FIshing

Anyone have any advice on where to fish for sharks. Catch and Release would be some fun. we have caught them accidently but never on purpose. I would like to know where to go and what bait to use. what can I expect to catch

Cut bait + Saltwater = sharks

They’ve never seemed real picky to me and they are everywhere from what I’ve seen.

Once the water gets warm, it’s hard not to catch sharks. Live or dead whiting is a good bait, but so is about anything else. Any fish is good, squid is good too. Any of the larger rivers near the ocean will have plenty. Deep holes and sloughs between bars are good places. Expect anything from 3’ blacktips and bonnetheads, up to 800 pound tiger and bull sharks. Bigger baits = bigger fish. Whole stingray is a great bait for big sharks.

I did a search on here about mako’s. I did not really see anything. I was wondering if anyone targets them or are they really not in the area?

Yes, Makos are in the area, but more offshore than inshore.

Jetties are always a good start. Live Mullet works great or cut bait.

ive caught countless sharpnose at folly on cut mullet where you cant keep them, but do sharpnose and or bonnetheads show up at the bridge to sullivans island/isle of palms?

We got this year’s first sharpnose Fri and a lot of bonnets.
