http://old.charlestonfishing.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=116729 a post you helped me out on a while ago. This one shows a pic. of one of your rigs. I guess just down size this one to fit some ones casting needs.

Just watch for swimmers and anyone else enjoying the water ie, kite boarders… I have caught a few over the years and they will mess your lines up quick. Best to fish early morning or evening and through the night unless you have a beach that has little traffic. Know your beaches, some are more fisherman friendly and shark friendly. Just pick a spot and have at it. Good luck and report back in with an update to let us know how it went.
If you want to increase your chances at landing a shark make sure you have a bite leader that will not get cut through when you hook up. This can be wire, cable or heavy mono (4-500#). I personally use coated cable in the 480# range and the smaller sharks don’t seem to mind.
On my next trip, I will take pictures of my gear as I rig everything up to help anyone who is interested.
Yes, you could just down size that rig. The weed eater line is not necessary for casting. If you notice in the 1st pic the cable is not that much longer than the shark, about 7ft and the blacktip was 6.5ft. The weight is an 8oz spider weight attached to the snap swivel.
im yet to get a big shark from the surf, but i tried the tip you told me of looping my leader around and putting the eye of my hook over a leg of my sputnik weight and it works great thanks! walked out near armpit deep (im 6 foot 3) and with a 10 foot ugly stick can hurl a heavy bait out much, much farther than trying to toss a 7 foot leader. i did however take a charter out yesterday and even though we got drenched in the morning our crew was tough and got several sharpnose and a couple small dusky sharks about 4 feet each. 1 of my friends never tried shark tacos til i made em that night and turned into an instant fan

Just make sure you’re not eating the Duskies.
duskies definately went back…only thing kept was the legal 1 sharpnose per person.
was on SI looking for pomps and whiting wed, ended up landing a full grown bonnet. had 2 other break offs that i suspect were the same. nothing else caught. barely got him in with the 20lbbraid with 20lbmono leader. Im still not ready to eat shark
