Ran out to Castle Pickney to troll for spanish and bluefish, no luck. We anchored and landed one bonnethead, there was a guide pretty close to us they landed 4 , released 2 and left. We stuck around too long and got soaked in a storm, hid under the bridge and went to fish for sheepshead at the burnt out coal bridge, only got the hooks into one, only 8 inches. About 15 mins later my dads rod went screaming , took 3/4 of the line off the spool and seemed to be sticking to the bottom. My dad originally thought it was a 40 + lb plus Black Drum or a Jack Cervalle . Had the crank up the motor to stop the fish from cutting into shallower water. Finally got the mystery fish to the boat, it was a 8 foot bull shark ! I attempted to gaff the shark but in retrospect i’m glad I missed ( On a small boat with a mean shark)the gaff attempt pissed the shark off and it turned around and snapped the wire leader and swam off. We both were excited to have that kind of fight with a fish, trolled a few times around Drum island, had a bluefish or spanish nibble the tails off of our artificial. Not a lot in the cooler but a beautiful day! just regret not getting out the camera for the bull shark.
Sounds like you guys are having a good time!
