shark tooth island?

has anyone heard of shark tooth island? I am told it is where the rantowles creek meets the stono…

does anyone know the specifics of this location? how do i access it, it is kayak accessible? Decent fishing? IS it a hard paddle?

Any additional info you can help with would be great. i am thinking about taking my brother out there tomorrow for a day trip who is visiting from atlanta and tomorrow is his last day…

thank you

don’t know where it is but you might wanna check the weather today before y’all go…

As far as I know, the only “island” in the vicinity of Rantowles and Stono is a sand bar that is frequented by weekend recreators at low tide.

There’s also another island near there, but it doesn’t have sharks teeth, so must not be what he’s referring to.

The “Redneck Riviera”

You can find sharks teeth in that area I go to place in that general vicinity that has a good amount of them. Wife and I call it “Wh*re Island” as the first time we pulled up a couple was in the middle of a love connection.
** for the record they has a Kayak they had pulled up on land so it was a bit of a shock to all involved. Those 4 strokes are quiet.

The current can be very strong at times.

I think you’re talking about this island: 32°46’51.0"N 80°07’29.8"W

I forget the name we had for it - bear island or fox island or raccoon island or some-critter island.

Yes, its easily accessible by kayak from Limehouse, just check the tides before you go and try to paddle with the current on your return when you’re tired.

On the weekends you’ll be winding through the partiers at the Redneck Riviera to get there.

wolf island and shark tooth island are not the same- leaving Limehouse landing and heading toward wapoo cut Shark tooth island is on the left side and shows as a high white sandy and shell island with a defined creek on the wapoo side leading back into the marsh-
Wold island is in the other direction from Limehouse landing- both are an easy kayak trip and both about the same distance

That’s right. Shark Tooth Island is an old dredge spoils island that has trees growing on it. Much smaller than Wolf Island. Still a cool place to camp. The water has eroded the island away so you can find small teeth among the rocks and shells and whatnot that have been washed out of the wall of sand/dredge material. I have never found anything big there, mostly small teeth or broken pieces of medium sized teeth.
