I do a good bit of shark fishing off the surf, but I just fixed up my new 16ft john and some friends and I want to try out some shark fishing around the harbor. I know they are everywhere, but I was just wondering if anyone new of some good spots to try out and how to set up. Drift, anchor, balloon, ect.? Thanks in advance for your help and will be sure to let yall know how it goes.
Don’t know of any spots around the harbor. Just don’t use a treble hook when shark fishing
We use to go parallel to Patriots Point in the middle of the harbor where the depth starts to drop to 15 ft. or less. You can catch shark until your arms are tired.
MaybeNexTime, do you even catch fish?
Ha, we need to go soon man, hopefully this week. Give me a call and we will get together.
See the post where the guy fishes off of Castle Pinckney. I have always anchored on the PP side facing the bridge where the depth drops off from a hump down to the depth of the channel. Always had pretty good success with bonnets there. I usually use blue crab but would try cut mullet as well.
i fish off of castle pickney and catch a ton of bonnets most of the time use cut menhadden or mullet but they will eat anything
25 seacraft
Thanks for your help!Where is castle pickney? I know where pp is but never heard of the other. Thanks in advance
Draw a line straight from Shem Creek across to the Charleston peninsula and you will cross Castle Pinckney. It is a small island out in the harbor that has a small brick fort on it. I have fished the backside closer to the bridge for sharks. Use your depth finder to drop a rig where it starts to slope downward into deeper water.
Thanks a lot! Plan on doing some inshore fishing this Thursday, and after, going to catch some sharks. I will be sure to post and let yall know how I did. Thanks again for your input.
Hey, it is nice to be able to contribute some info for a change.
Good luck!
