Sharks on Folly this weekend, Edisto next, invite

Planning on going out again at my house this friday starting around 4pm and ending whenever everyone can’t take it any longer. Bigcountryboy and I generally fish till after daybreak. Pm or text, 631-553-6301

Next weekend we are planning to head to edisto early morning. Leave charleston at say 6am and return sometime late that night, probably around midnightish? Pm or text 631-553-6301 .

As a group we have had pretty decent success, not really being skunked of catching anything, but so far only 1 blacktip in the 5 ft range. Many 40+ inch reds among us, and hopefully more coming soon. Last week was our first week yakking out some big bait, a 6-8lb bonita head, and we will be doing the same the next few weeks. I also have some sharpnose that didn’t make it so they will be bait too. Always looking for more to be a part of our regular group and we also have a www.tx-sharkfishing.com group “Charleston Shark Fishing” so we can organize a little easier than just mass texting.

After the season comes to a close here in SC, we will be making once a month (maybe more) trips to either jacksonville or other locations not too far away for a weekend trip. We will also have several of us attending the blacktip challenge put on by blacktiph in fort pierce, FL area Jan30th - Feb3rd.

The majority of us are new to this whole land based shark fishing. A few of us have started off with senators, and we have roped sc_shark to start coming along who has his fancy toys, but the rest of us are on battles, fierces and spinfishers. Looking to continue progressing and eventually get some recognition for those of us who put in many hours here in the lesser talked about state!

Feel free to pm or text me if you would like to be added to my mass text fishing invites or if any of the above sounds good to you.

Thanks,
Stan

Id love to come as i was invited to come down here in hilton head with my parents. But i rode with my parents and they arent much into driving up to folly for fishing. Next time il drive my own truck. Hope you guys best of luck.

We will be in Edisto this upcoming weekend.

Hello Stan,
I am actually looking to get in to Surf Fishing. Id like to come check this out and see what all im going to need for this. Are you at Folly this Sat? If so what street or where do you all set up.

We will be at Folly on east 800 block tomorrow night. Saturday morning we are heading to edisto bright and early. You are welcome to come to either, text me 631-553-6301. For your basic all around surf rod, something 10-13 feet works best to maximize casting distance, and because there are toothy predators around, even if they are not your target, a reel with good line capacity would be recommended. Even some of the bull reds we have caught had big runs, granted we did not tighten the drag all the way down, but they can take some line! I personally love my penn battle 8000 which I bought new on ebay for 95.00 compared to the 120 it retails for at some place like dicks. I put 550yds of 50lb braid that I bought also on ebay for about 24 bucks, and this so far has done the trick. However come Jan, penn is releasing new spinfishers, one which will hold 600yds of 80lb braid.

There are lots of options but it depends what you will target primarily, and my personal favorite based on the size of fish you can catch without a boat is sharks. Just text me and well set it up so you can come see what everyone uses, most of the other guys I fish with have smaller rods.

Thanks Stan. I’ll get with buddy this afternoon and see if he wants to run out there tonight. I’ll shoot you a text if it look s like were going to make it out.

Thanks for all the info.
