Saw several bonnets cruising last friday.

I’m starting to fish salt water more than fresh water therefore I’m kinda new to it, where is the best location for these 3-5 ft sharks in the harbor.? What depth should I be looking for and type of bait? I’m assuming cut mullet or something of that nature would work, right?

Cut mullet, squid (especially for bonnetheads) and scrimp. I’ve found them around Pinkney, jetties, Sumter. That has generally been after May, but they are way early. They seem to be eveywhere lately.

I have never fished for them before, if I just float the deepest part of the harbor any chance of hooking up with one ??

Bragging may not bring happiness,
but no man having caught a large fish,
goes home through the alley.

I’ve had best luck at drop offs, holes and ledges. I’ve also been skunked at drop offs, holes and ledges. But thats where I start.

Ur best bet is heavy leader in 16ft to 40ft catch some blue fish for bait
