Sheephead Spots

Good Evening, my brother is coming into town in a few weeks and he’s big on catching sheepshead. I know they generally hang out around pylons, jetties, etc. but I was wondering if anyone had any good spots that they could identify that are generally good for sheephead?

Also, I know they love fidler crabs, does anyone know any good spots to find them now or is it too cold?

Thanks any information is greatly appreciated.

Haddrell’s sells fiddlers. If they are out, fresh oysters/clams work well too. Its tough to catch the fiddlers in the winter time unless you get a really sunny warm day. The new Mt Pleasant pier has produced well this fall. That’s as good a place to try as any other; I assume you don’t have access to a boat?

Sailfish, yes I do have access to a boat. Just wondering what good spots are out there that I can try from IOP to Folly.

If the weather is nice I would ride out to Charleston nearshore assuming you have a decent sized boat. Just outside the jetties. I haven’t fished them in a month, but they were in good numbers inshore then.

I would be interested in forming a small group to test the inlet waters around Shem and Coal Stack. PM me if you have room or are interested.

The folly bridge right there at the launch is as far as you need to go!
