I was having lunch at California Dreaming and saw a couple guys tied up to the bridge pilings. They were out of the boat and had a cooler up there. They were fishing for sheeps.
I thought it was illegal to tie to the bridge, but nobody came and chased them off. They had a large scraper and were scraping oysters and everything. Was that legal?
I think it is somewhat illegal but I don’t think anyone really enforces it. I have been tied up to a bridge before and had a game warden pull up and ask if I was catching anything. He saw all the busted up oyster shells, a shovel in the boat, and I was tied up to the bridge and all he was interested in was my life jacket and fishing liscense.
Was that Pre 9-11 ?? Apparently that is the concern. I can say that I was at Mt. Pleasant Pier and saw some guys in a TINY Jonboat up against the big bridge and they were slaying sheepshead

I go by there frequently. They catch a few sheepshead and trout; seen some 5 lb sheeps taken out of there. Cast back toward Cal Dreaming for Trout. Curious; if you look at the bridge pylon platforms, you will see major areas where barnacles have been eaten down to bare concrete by the sheeps; there’s got to be sheeps in there. They start low and work their way up on a slant; they’re moving sideways and up as they feed. They gotta be used to boat traffic, too. Go get 'em!
