Sheeps

Anyone fish for sheeps out of the kayak? I am itching for trying some of the fish down here, but so far I have just caught reds that have been below or above the slot limit (first time I caught a fish and wished it was smaller :stuck_out_tongue: ) I have a crapload of fiddlers behind my apartment so I figure I will give it a shot.

So many spots to fish, so few time.

Friday all I had was fiddlers and picked up 2 nice eating sheeps and a 22" red. I was fishing Steamboat area of Edisto, but usually fish the lower Cooper.

Ditto on the lower cooper.

Kayak, SCUBA, or both.

I got a kayak a few months ago and plan on trying to catch some sheephead when I bring it back to Charleston in a few weeks. Won’t have a job so my schedule will be free if you wanna get together and stick some fish

Rap I would definitely be down. I am busy all week, although once and a while I might be able to sneak out of work at 4 for a few hours of fishing. Weekends are extremely flexible, pretty much can go whenever. I might check out some spots for sheepshead this weekend.

What do people use for a strategy when it comes to staying still (i.e. anchoring)? I have an anchor, but the dang thing doesn’t seem to work for a crap.

Rap and Ice holler at me I would def be up for some sheeps out of the yak … I think I know of a place that should be productive and I have seen Sheeps there before

Try using a stake out pole, suggest you make one from a curtain dowel. If you are having trouble hooking the sheep try using a drop of super glue where the hook goes in. A friend of mine fishing an extremely rocky area, he uses a bream float with just enough of a split shot to get the fiddler to hang down. Sometimes it works better to just free line the fiddler.

Good Luck
