Sheepshead are on FIRE

If you can make it out it’s on fire.

Pushed out on Saturday and slayed them at the reef. Caught around 75 sheepshead, a few black fish, and a dozen or so large redfish. Fiddler crabs were the bait of choice, and we used a ton of them.

Using light tackle 3000 size spinning reels and short shank live bait hooks.

We still have fiddlers at the Mount Pleasant location.

Wow, very nice, what reef, Capers?
I have a 20’ Pathfinder, can i get out there ok?

thanks

Honestly not sure what reef we were at we were in 40 feet of water.

I have heard good reports from customers in reference to Capers though, and for sure in a 20’ Pathfinder on a nice day you can get there.

We were in a larger boat on Saturday and that’s the only reason we got to fish, it was nasty.

Good to hear. I’ve attempted to come down a few times this winter and after calling, it sounded like this year was a bust for fiddlers.

You expect to have them regularly for a while?

We haven’t had fiddlers regularly for awhile.

We have found another source other than Florida but he can’t seem to catch enough.

The guys in Florida are telling us they have basically depleted the population.

We will attempt to do everything we can to keep them in though.

Congrats on the day. For anyone targeting the sheep’s try to be conscious of killing the big fish as they are all females and they are out there to spawn. We personally release anything over 7lbs and keep no more than 10 fish, usually less.

To be honest, if you have never been before I would say no. You need to be in a 24:smiley:

Down here is where a signature goes but they can confuse and anger some people so I don’t have one.

If you had time to catch your own, I saw a bunch of fiddlers all along the wando at lo tide on saturday…not millions of them like in summer, but plenty to round up for a day of fishing

'a stranger is just a friend i havent met yet’jt
