Sheepshead green curry

I was debating what to do with a large slab off of a 12+lb sheepshead. I didn’t want to fry it so I decided to make a curry with it and man it was good. I used the recipe below but added lemongrass and some super hot carolina reaper powder. I also made chinese long beans since I had them handy anyways.

nice. how are the reaper peppers i bought a plant and so far no peppers but its doing pretty well.

The reapers I used are powdered ones I bought online. I couldn’t wait for this year’s harvest so I cheated there.
I’m glad to hear I’m not the only one who’s peppers aren’t fruiting yet. So far all they want to do it grow big ass leaves. I think we need more high temp days to get them to switch to fruiting instead of growing. Otherwise I may need to prune them a bit and add a booster of some type.

it’ll be august or september if its anything like the hot peppers in my yard.

ive noticed a couple small flower buds on my plant that havent bloomed yet, but my habanero plants are doing well with 2 decent sized green peppers on on, my serrano plants exploded and have tons of blooms and peppers starting, and my tabasco plants are doing ok as well. granted im in south georgia now but well see how well they do. before the navy i did try a ghost pepper plant in oh and it exploded and gave me no less than 75-100 peppers, however they werent as hot as i expected.

You in Warner Robbins?

My bells and shi@#@#o peppers are producing a bit already in CHS, but we grow NM green chile and it doesnt get going really good until things dry out a bit in July. They have flowered a bit, but come sept/aug we will get covered up.

nope st marys. my bell peppers arent doing anything. id definitely say that the habanero and serrano plants are doing the best by far. still very curious to see what the reaper will do!

Reapers are flowering now. Shouldn’t be long.
Shi****o peppers. Lol Those are actually my fav.

I’ve heard this from others that have tried to grow Ghost Peppers (Bhut Jolokia) state side. Seems that there is something in the soil in India where they were discovered that makes them really, really, really hot. I guess we just don’t have “IT” in the U.S.

Now that this topic is completely derailed, I don’t particularly care for the taste of Indian food.

And to derail further, our own Rockhill South Carolina created pepper, the Carolina Reaper, is considered the hottest pepper in the world.

That’s because the truly hot peppers need full direct sun and punishing temperatures for the peppers to reach peak spicyness. My habaneros in the shady side of the yard are like jalapenos.

our habenaros and jalapenos cross bred last year and those jalapenos lit me on fire when we made cheese stuffed ones on the grill, my goodness!

my reaper plant is near my tabasco plants and some green peppers. being lit up by a bell pepper would be something else if that cross breeds!!!
