Caught a 7 lb. sheepshead on a roostertail out in middle of the jetties, away from the rocks. What a fluke…who woulda’ thought?
Saw a fella catch a nice spade OTF this spring too.
What’s the most unusual thing you’ve caught a fish on?
Caught a parrot fish using a fish eyeball as bait once when was about 10. Was flippin the eyeball on a hook at my sister tryin to freak her out mainly and ended up draggin it thru the water and caught a parrot fish! They usually just eat coral and hard stuff and ya have to spear em.
Last weekend caught an 8" bass in the cast net…largemouth bass…in Lake Murry.

Actually my dad sent me a telescoping rod/reel when I was stationed on an 82fter at Freeport, Tx in the USCG. That roostertail was the only lure I had (came w/the rig). I was casting it off the dock which was just inside the jetties just to wet the line I guess. Really didn’t expect to catch anything. About the third cast I hooked up on that sheephead (out away from the dock). At that time I had no clue what that fish was, so I went and told another guy on the boat “I caught a fish with dentures in his mouth.” Of course he had to see that. He knew it was a sheephead right off and he weighed it for me, just over 7# actually. That was a pretty big one compared to what I’ve caught and seen caught since.
