Sheepshead out of Murrells Inlet

We caught a nice day of fishing on Friday just before the weather got cold and snowy.

Nice mess of fish.
Do U mind sharing some specifics? Location? Bait? Tackle?
Still trying to figure dem sheeps. :sunglasses:

Not at all, I saw a local fishing show called reelin up the coast and they said go out to the pawleys Island reef and use 1/2 oz fishizzle meal ticket jig heads and frozen fiddler crabs. We did just what they said and I did buy a new reef anchor from Perrys bait and tackle, They even told me how to use it. really helpful because if you have never even seen one a little instuction goes a long way. we found structure and anchored up and immediately began catching Sheeps. Not a single Black sea bass 5 sharks 1 big porgy and several undersized sheeps that we had to throw back. and quite a few that got off at the boat untill we got the hang of it.

Never take life seriuosly. Nobody makes it out alive anyway

Nice Report I plan to go if I can catch a good weather day soon.

That is the hard part aint it Grady? The wind just keeps me inside too often on the weekends. I had to take a day off to go just to catch the weather. I cant wait to retire…

Thanks! I watched that same show.
It “got” my fever up for sure.

Was the “Bite” as hard to detect on the reef as it is on the jetties.?

What type and size hooks did you use?

Appreciate the info. :sunglasses:

It was really easy to detect because the water was so calm,

The boat wasn’t rocking and you could easily feel the 1/2 oz weight bouncing off the bottom to about 3" off the bottom over and over and when they hit it was a nice steady double tug and then it is on.
