I have been fishing all week for sheepshead and haven’t had much luck. What are some general areas around murrells inlet to best catch them?
If they are out there, they are probably on the near shore reefs. I haven’t heard of anyone catching them on the rocks this summer. They normally stay around the rocks all summer long…might want to go get some spoons and some gotcha plugs and chase the spanish…

Not sure it will help but pulled some off of Bill Perry Reef, Saturday. Not what I was expecting but hey they fight and eat good. Got all I wanted in about 30 minutes.

Thanks for the help were y’all using fiddlers? Ended up hooking up with one finally, after about a week of trying, that was probably nine or ten pounds it was the biggest one I’ve ever had on my line but it rapped me around some structure and broke me off. Next time I should have a net handy.
i caught a twelve pounder and 2 around 8 pounds about 2 weeks ago. have tried them since
Were you fishing the reefs?

Im still in school. I’m glad you are catching them I saw one eating barnacles today and that’s it. I have caught a lot f black drum trying to catch them though.
i catch a ton of drum too. it helps if u chum them with barnacles
I think I know slayers spot and technique …
Looks as if he is called Slayer for a reason.
I gave up fishing in MI. I like the saying that someone posted not long ago, 90% of the fish caught in MI are caught by 10% of the people fishing. I will remember that.

Ain’t it the truth!?!?!
It ain’t no mystery…this beer’s history!
got another big one yesterday!
Ha… I said that. We have a home on Oyster Cove. It’s a great place to have a beach house, and to depart out of to bottom fish, offshore fish, and go catch kings and Spanish. But…If I want a full day of inshore fishing for reds, trout, etc. I hook up the little boat and head to Winyah Bay. I love that place. You can catch anything there. I have fished MI for 30 yrs. It’s a tough place to fish. I think its cause of the lack of freshwater coming in there. While it is daunting, it will surprise you. I have absolutely killed the sheeps and black drum at the jetties. I think they move around. I have caught a gag grouper that was almost keeper sized at the jetties. The bluefish are thick in the fall, as well as the Spanish. The flounder are always around. Sometimes it’s best to work a minnow on a jig head in a creek as opposed to troll for them. The reds are the most perplexing there. I They move in and out of the deeper water along the main creek, depending on the tide, moon phase, boat traffic etc. If you wanna catch fish in MI, you better go early. 5 AM early. Hope this helps.
Congrats on the nice fish. Chumming your personal dock?? All I ask is quit keeping the bait sized sheepies please, but you’re obviously free to do as you wish…

that was before there was a size limit and all it is like someone keeping a 14 inch flounder or 15 inch red. they all taste the same
